Since 2004 the World AIDS Campaign (WAC) in Egypt distinguishes itself as a large scale and highly participatory campaign coordinated through a special task-force chaired by UNAIDS Egypt country office in partnership with the Government, UN agencies, Civil Society, etc. A series of diverse activities is implemented every year around World AIDS Day (December 1st) to advocate for reduction of HIV and AIDS stigma and discrimination and to raise awareness on HIV and AIDS among the general population in Egypt
The Photography Documentation of the World Aids Campaign (WAC) 2013 comprised a total of 8 photography shootings performed over the month of December across 6 Governorates in Egypt, namely: Cairo; Giza; Mansura; Aswan; Assiut and Alexandria. All photography shootings were planned by AlQomrah in coordination with UNAIDS country office and local venues such as Universities, NGOs and Local Communities.
Photography shootings were performed by a selection of young professional Egyptian photographers. More than 6000 photos were taken over the months of November and December 2013.
